The story
NBK started in three small shops with a handful of employees. Its origin story is tied to Kuwaiti merchants seeking a bank that understood and served the country’s own commercial community.
An Amiri decree permitted the bank’s incorporation in 1952, and operations began that November. It financed trade and infrastructure as Kuwait entered a period of rapid economic and institutional change.
